Armed robbery, though has been existing, is becoming a more serious issue occurring at various hostels here in Ifite; the major area being hostels at Miracle Junction!
Just recently, armed robbers invaded Tanus hostel at Miracle Junction.
According to report, it was revealed that similar case has also occurred at King Dave hostel, Miracle Junction, where phones, money, laptops and other belongings of students where stolen and taken by force.
No one would reject or oppose these robbers because they had guns, kinves and daggers with them.
It was about 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning, being the 27th of March 2018, when these robbers invaded Tanus hostel.
In the process of robbing each room at Tanus hostel, the robbers got to Daniel's room.
Report revealed that these robbers requested that Daniel should open up his door so they could come in, but instead he refused.
The robbers became angry and began destroying Daniel's window until they were able to penetrate.
When they finally got into the room, they began stabbing him with knives and almost killed him. Daniel bled mercilessly.
Luckily for him, he survived the incident.
This issue of robbery keeps on elevating, and nothing has been said or done about it; and until precautionary measures are implemented, these robbers will keep on stealing, killing, and possibly raping UNIZIK students.
No one knows who these robbers are, or where they came from; though some say they were from Igbariam.
In the meantime, students are expected to follow the below guidelines until something is done about robbery in Ifite:
1. Whenever armed robbers invade your hostel here in Ifite, and elsewhere, kindly open your door for them if they knock at your door, else if they should get in by any other means, it will be very bad of what they might do to you.
2. If after opening your door for them to come in, please do not look at them at their faces! This is very important since if you should someday see one of these robbers elsewhere, and they recognized you and you recognized them, they will plan to assassinate you so that you can't leak their secret to the police.
Remember, these robbers, like every other humans, are also afraid! Do not be a threat to any of them.
3. Simply hurry up and give them your phones, laptops and so on. They will leave your room after collecting these items. Do not prove stubborn.
It is better they get away with your properties than kill or rape you; I'm sure you wouldn't want that to happen to you.
4. For the ladies /females, try as much as possible not to look sexy or attractive at night or whenever you hear that robbers have invaded your hostel/lodge.
This is necessary in order to avoid being raped. Chances are they are most likely to leave you if you do not look appealing to them.
5. After they have all gone, you can then proceed to the police station, at daytime, to lay your complaints.
While these are some of the crucial prevention, it is important to follow these guidelines carefully, until something is done concerning robbery in UNIZIK, especially at Miracle Junction, Yahoo Junction, and Down school.
We plead for the government to come to our aid, Ifite is becoming something else!
